*PLAYA-NEWS: POWER OUTAGE IN MARINA DEL REY CONTINUES

A power outage continued Monday for about 1,820 Los Angeles Department of Water & Power customers in Venice and Marina del Rey, an LADWP spokesman said. It was unclear what caused the outage, said department spokesman Michael Ventre. Power was originally expected to be restored around 1:30 a.m., he said.

*PLAYA-NEWS: LAFD AMBULANCE STRUCK BY A TAXI IN PLAYA VISTA; CAB’S 60 YEAR OLD PASSENGER KILLED, OFFICIALS SAY 

A 60-year-old female passenger in a taxi cab was killed Saturday morning when the vehicle struck a Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance in Playa Vista, the agency said. The collision occurred about 8:22 a.m. in the 13200 block of West Jefferson Boulevard as the ambulance was responding to an emergency call with its lights and sirens activated, the LAFD said in a statement. The firefighter-paramedics gave the woman medical assistance but were unable to revive her, the statement said. She was pronounced dead at the scene. her identity was not immediately released. The man who was driving the taxi and two LAFD firefighters were transported to a hospital “due to the mechanism of the collision” but were not seriously injured, the news release said.

The Plano, Texas-based exhibitor has signed a 10-year deal to upgrade its screens with Barco Series 4 laser projectors and integrated Barco Alchemy media servers. Cinemark operates 549 theaters with more than 6,000 screens in 41 U.S. states and 15 countries throughout South and Central America, including a dozen in the L.A. area such as the Cinemark 18 & XD in Los Angeles, Cinemark Playa Vista & XD, and Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza & XD. The exhibitor’s brands also include Century, Tinseltown and Rave theaters

2. Where do you work, and where did you go for your job training? – I own and run The Duchess Yacht Charter Service in Marina Del Rey. We operate the The Duchess Yacht, The Legend Yacht and Side Hustle.  I’ve been on the water for 63 years and driving my own vessels for 47

4. Where are your favorite places to go on weekends?  – The Pacific ocean is where we spend our weekends.

8. How did you get into the Yacht Chartering business?  – I was looking for my retirement career and found it.

9. What’s the most unusual yacht cruise you’ve done? – We’ve done many unusual charters and out of respect of and for confidentiality I would not share those. Of the ones I can share, I would say a variety of the different Filming we have done would fall under unusual, from Charlie Sheen interviews for international television, 20/20 Murder reenactments, a variety of Reality TV shows and many more.

10. Do you teach people how to fish as well? – We teach people how to catch fish all the time.

1. ***An explosion was reported last week at a Playa Vista apartment complex, but arriving firefighters found only smoke coming from two ground-level generators and no sign of fire, authorities said. Firefighters were dispatched at 2:45 p.m to 12490 Fielding Circle on an incident “called in as an explosion,” Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
