PLAYA – LENS:

Pop’s Bagels in Culver City is expanding again, pushed in part by a favorable cameo in that famous New York Times California bagel article from a while back. The new shop at 9300 Culver Boulevard – part of the Culver Steps development – is open as of last weekend, and moving forward will keep hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday (with Monday opening up later this spring). Owner Zachary Liporace, who spent years refining his unique bagel recipes and serving the finished product to customers at pop-ups all over L.A., also owns a location in Brentwood. Like that shop, this new Culver City address will offer pastries in addition to bagels and will serve both hot and cold options (like bagel sandwiches) all day.

Local Salon Owner Launches High-Quality and Affordable Haircare Line:

Marina del Rey resident and hairstylist Heather Collins is taking her salon business to the next level by coming out with her own line of haircare products. Killer Hair has been open for nine years, during seven of which it was voted the number one salon in The Argonaut’s “Best of the Westside.” The salon specializes in hair and skin services with experienced stylists offering haircuts, blowouts, color, hair treatments, waxing, facials, peels, dermaplaning and tanning.

Google Adds 53K-SF in Playa Vista:

Google is growing its cluster of offices in Playa Vista. The company signed a lease for about 53,000-square-feet of space at The Bluffs office campus. Edward J. Minskoff Equities has owned The Bluffs since 2016, when the New York-based investment firm paid $413 million for the property, according to public records. The office campus totals 500,000-square-feet and has a restaurant, wine bar and cafe onsite. Fox, Flexport and entertainment production company Aftershock Studios all occupy space at the complex. The property is located across the street from Google’s office at Spruce Goose – an historic airplane hangar that Google converted into a 450,000-square-foot office and event space. The company moved into the property in 2019. YouTube, owned by Google, occupies a building next door that is owned by affiliates of Invesco, records show.
