PLAYA – COMMENTARY by Stephanie Stocker:

I went out for a walk on Sunday in the middle of the day, and my side gate blew open. Apparently, a homeless person took this as an invitation to come right in, leave some clothes and needles in my backyard and on the side of my house. I called the police so that they would do some extra patrols. I wondered if the person planned to come back with a truck and steal some stuff from my backyard next. I’ve also had someone rifle through the contents of my car in my driveway on three separate occasions. Very unnerving to have this happen.

On Monday afternoon, this man threw a rock at a woman walking her dog and he thankfully missed. Please be aware if you see him in the neighborhood! The rock ended up hitting my car and causing two large dents.

PLAYA – BULLETIN BOARD:

1. ** POSSIBLE CASING OF HOMES IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD (We had 8 Burglaries last month): This BMW was going back and forth in the Mar Vista neighborhood this morning at approximately 11 a.m. I noticed it on different streets (Purdue, Butler, Corinth, Kingsland, and one more street) while I was walking my dog. It passed me several times which is why it caught my attention. License Plate 8JMJ651. I have alerted L.A.P.D. as well. —- Andrew M. Westdale, Mar Vista

2. ** I am sick and tired of seeing all the self-promotion ads for realtor Stephanie Younger. My Brother-in-law used her once and said she was a big disappointment and all hype. —- Janis B., Playa Vista

3. ** I had a delightful lunch the other afternoon at Cantalini’s Salerno Beach Restaurant in Playa del Rey. The food was terrific, and the service friendly. I highly recommend it. —- Tammi B., Playa del Rey

4. ** Shopping at IKEA is the litmus test of our relationship! We don’t go there together anymore; this rule has kept us together 40 years. —- Mrs. Lindsay K., Westchester

5. ** Do you want to know what the most “fearlessly independent” and “unbiased” news and information source is? —- www.LBNExaminer.com

6. ** This best-selling business book is taught at 25 of the best business schools in America. —- www.BrokenWindowsBook.com

7. ** Does anyone have any thoughts about this vehicle being parked in the same place for over a week? Is someone homeless declaring that this is a great location to live, or is someone being spied on, or has the Partridge Family moved into the neighborhood? 5240-5250 Knowlton Street —- Medgar Parrish, Westchester

8. ** We currently live in a society with two sets of laws. One set for regular law-abiding, taxpaying citizens and the other for the homeless. If we do something against the law, we are fined or arrested. If the homeless do the exact same thing, they are brought a cup of coffee with three social workers (taxpayer paid) stopping by to comfort them —- Hailey B., Playa Vista

9. ** There is a sign on the window of Baja Fresh in Marina del Rey that says, “No Public Restroom.” Unfortunately, given the food I eat there, I think the sign should be changed to, “This is a Public Restroom.” —- Arthur O., Marina del Rey

10. ** I’m on Councilman Mike Bonin’s mailing list, and honest to God, this guy is really a radical crackpot, and I’m being kind. —- Virginia P., Playa Vista

11. ** It takes a special person to break off seasonal flowers (lasts less than a month) on someone’s property. If that bothers someone that badly, how about ringing the doorbell. We have the person who did it on camera, and I will share shortly. —- Step Beaurain, Del Rey

12. ** We’re in the home stretch of collecting signatures to repeal the part of Prop 19 that removed the ability of your kids/grandkids to inherit your property tax rate when they inherit your home, and avoid reassessment @ current property values. —- Kathy Rosenfeld, Westchester

13. ** Share your comments. As a reader, we value your comments about Playa Vista People. Please tell us what you like, don’t like, and how we can improve. Any thoughts, suggestions, comments, or opinions or most appreciated. Send to: PlayaVistaPeople@TimeWire.net
